The Tumi shows the image of King Naymlap, a mythological figure honored as a patron of health and medicine. The story is that he came to Peru easily to settle there. Eventually, he got wings with which he flew to heaven and became immortal. Also, the Tumi was a victim in the Chimu culture. The Inca`s united these two symbols in their legendary Tumi pendants. According to ancient belief, Inca was the earthly king, but also the son of the Sun god. Inca could bring the divine solar powers to earth, and the subjects who were in possession of a Tumi were receptive to this divine power. Also by donating a Tumi, the giver could transfer this power to the recipient, which could both receive from this divine source.
