The Labrys is the twin-ax, known as cult object in Crete during the Minoan and Mycenaean period.
On the origin and symbolic meaning is much speculation, but these are largely in mythical mystery. The labrys was often called a weapon, but has more images significance as a scepter.

On several images seems Labrys an item of fertility symbolism, by various natural and abstract objects symbolized.
There is agreement with symbols like the ankh and the Cross, and the hammer of the Germanic Thor.
